Awesome. I wish I was at this concert. Jason Moran is a really wonderful pianist. I especially liked his "Same Mother" with the inimitable guitarist Marvin Sewell. A great but oft overlooked guitarist with a truly singular voice. Kaplan writes really well about jazz - it's hard to do.

I thought I would start a blog so I could tell people about all of the nice things I happen upon.
I really like the song "Me and the Major" by Belle and Sebastian. It's about (among other things) feeling inferior to previous generations. There's also something very poignant in the recurrent image of the major marching in an imaginary parade. A deep little pop song.
I have also been re-reading John McCormick's book on Carl Schmitt. It is really good, though I think his critique is just Habermas' recast.
And listening to Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time, which my father gave me.
Ok, that's all for now.
